The Trevose Golf and Country Club junior team, consisting of Harry Durnall, Jack Ivamy and Harry Gwinnell, travelled to Woodhall Spa from 10–12 August to compete in the English Junior Club Championship on the Bracken Course.

During their visit, Jack Ivamy and Harry Gwinnell also had the opportunity to play the prestigious Hotchkin Course. It provided a fantastic challenge and a great test of their golfing ability, with both boys playing extremely well and even securing handicap cuts before the tournament began.
The team then took to the Bracken Course for their practice round in hot conditions, with extremely challenging pin positions giving them a real taste of what awaited in the championship.
The following afternoon, the boys met their playing partners and teed off last in the heat of the day. With the best two scores from the team of three counting towards the overall result, Harry Durnall produced an excellent 32 points, with Jack Ivamy adding 31, putting Trevose in 18th place out of 33 teams after the opening round.
Following a quick turnaround, the boys were back on the course the next morning, teeing off first in warm and dusty conditions. Once again, the Bracken Course provided a stern test, but the team responded with another strong performance.
This time, Harry Gwinnell recorded an excellent 34 points, while Harry Durnall added 32, helping Trevose climb the leaderboard.
With all the scores in, Trevose finished an excellent 14th out of 33 clubs.
It was a fantastic opportunity for Harry, Jack and Harry to represent Trevose Golf and Country Club and Cornwall on the national stage. Competing in challenging conditions on a course set up to test every aspect of their game, the boys can be extremely proud of their performances.
The experience is one they will undoubtedly look back on fondly, and the team will now hope to build on this year’s performance and challenge for the Cornwall entry again next year.
A huge thank you goes to all the parents for their support and encouragement throughout the championship.
Finally, sincere thanks go to Cornwall Golf Ltd and Trevose Golf and Country Club for their generous financial support, which enabled the team to take part. Their contribution is greatly appreciated and helped give these young golfers an experience they will remember for many years to come.
