Harry Durnall and Harry Gwinnell secure victory at the Cornwall Junior Champion Club, earning the right to represent Cornwall and Trevose at Woodhall Spa this August.
Trevose Golf Club’s talented junior golfers, Harry Durnall and Harry Gwinnell, have secured their place on the national stage after winning the Cornwall Junior Champion Club title and qualifying for the England Golf Junior Champion Club Finals.
Competing at a beautifully presented Mawgan Porth Golf Club on Bank Holiday Monday, the annual event brought together 14 of Cornwall’s leading golf clubs, with each team fielding three players and counting the best two Stableford scores.
In a closely contested competition, just two points separated the top three teams. Trevose emerged victorious with a combined score of 79 points, edging out Truro by a single point and St Austell by two.
Leading the way for Trevose was Harry Durnall, who produced an outstanding round of 41 Stableford points. Playing in one of the final groups of the day, Harry’s superb performance proved crucial as the leaderboard tightened towards the finish. Alongside him, Harry Gwinnell delivered a composed and consistent round of 38 points, ensuring Trevose secured the county title.
The victory is a testament to the hard work, dedication and commitment both players have shown throughout the season and is a proud moment for everyone involved with junior golf at Trevose.
Off to Woodhall Spa
As Cornwall champions, they will travel to Woodhall Spa, the home of England Golf, on 11th and 12th August to represent both Trevose and Cornwall in the England Golf Junior Champion Club Finals. There, they will compete against the best junior club teams from across the country.
To qualify for a national final is a remarkable achievement, and everyone at Trevose is incredibly proud of what the boys have accomplished.
