Philip Rowe

Following a year with the R&A Bursary Scheme at Exeter University, he went on to take a scholarship at Stanford University, California, USA, from where he graduated with a BA Degree in Psychology. Whilst there he was a member of the University Golf Team from 1999 to 2002, and captained the side during 2001 – 2002. He was named “Academic All American Scholar” by the Golf Coaches Association of America in 2001 and 2002, and named on the “Student Athlete Roll of Honour” each year from 2000 – 2002.

Philip became a professional golfer in July 2003 and since then has played on several professional golf Tours in the UK and Europe with distinction. In 2006 he won the Open de Pays Basque at La Nivelle near St. Jean-de-Luz, The Towergate Insurance Championships Europro at Maylands in Essex and The Open de La Reunion Alps Tour at Golf du Bassin Bleu on the La Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean (this included a course record 64 in the 3rd round).

Phil is currently Assistant Coach at The Enlight Foundation for Men’s Golf, Stanford University, California, USA.

In 2005 Philip was appointed as touring professional to represent the Club at major events throughout the UK and abroad.

Philip was one of the most outstanding amateur golfers of his generation. He is a committed Cornishman who from an early age represented at every level: club, county, combined counties, and eventually scaling the Amateur ranks to win international honours with England, Great Britain and Europe. The pinnacle of his amateur career was undoubtedly the 1999 Walker Cup match against the USA, when as a member of the Great Britain and Ireland team he earned 3 points from 3.
