Nick Gammon, 1 handicap, set the early pace with a blistering 68 net, the lowest score of the day, with five birdies and two dropped strokes, to take a four stroke lead from Cruse, Konig and Norris, after all three players finished on 7 2net.

In the second round Chris Gammon, 3 handicap, improved on his morning score by eight strokes, to climb into fifth place overall with a fine 70 net. Norris moved up, equalling Gammon’s score of 70 net, and Chris Brown took third place from Cruse on count-back, after they both returned a score of 73 net.

In the final analysis though, it was Norris who proved to be the conclusive winner, once again, of the first trophy to be awarded at Trevose in 1928.
