At this year’s Annual General Meeting at Trevose, Roger Vivian handed his captain’s baton to the new club captain for 2016/17, Paul Haley. Paul has chosen Robert J Wyatt as his vice-captain.

Paul was born in Plymouth, where he studied and became a Chartered Accountant. He worked in Papua New Guinea for three years, but returned to Plymouth to marry Patricia, and bring up a family. Paul and Patricia, who was the Ladies’ captain at Trevose in 2012/13, retired to live in St Merryn and they have been family members of the club since 1989. Paul is also a member of the Trevose senior’s team, and plays off a handicap of 15. Outside golf his main interest is in coaching badminton, and is currently the senior coach for the Cornwall County under-13-squad.

Paul’s vice-captain, Robert J Wyatt, known widely as Bob, was born in London, with strong ties to the West Country through his Devon born father. He was in the civil service in London, but moved to Cornwall in 1985 when he bought a flourishing business; which he sold in 2015 and retired. Bob joined Trevose in the late 1980’s and has since taken an active part in club affairs, accepting the role of senior’s captain four years ago. He also plays off a handicap of 15.
