One of Europe’s most high-profile golfers, Paul Lawrie OBE, will be taking part in this year’s inaugural Farmfoods European Legends Links Championship at Trevose.

The Scottish professional is best known for winning The Open in 1999 and will join other stars of the Staysure Tour for the event.

Over the course of his successful career Paul has won eight European Tour events and shot to fame in 1999 when he won the Open. Defeating Justin Leonard and Jean van de Velde in a play-off, this victory catapulted him into the spotlight.

As well as this he has been part of Europe’s Ryder Cup team on two occasions including 2012’s ‘Miracle of Medinah.’

2019 marks his debut on the Staysure Tour and he is delighted to be a part of the Farmfoods European Legends Links Championship.

He said: “I can’t wait to play in this year’s championship. The event looks set to be one of the highlights of this year’s Staysure Tour and I’m looking forward to taking on the challenge.

“Farmfoods are also my personal sponsors and it is great to see them continue to get involved with golfing events on the tour. With Ian acting as event host I’m really looking forward to seeing many other high-profile players signing up to play in the Championship in the coming weeks.

“The fact the event is taking place on a Links course was also a big positive for me. It’s a style of golf I love to play and I’ve heard a lot of positive things about the Trevose course.”

Paul joins event host Ian Woosnam OBE at the championship which takes place between 20–23 June at Trevose Golf & Country Club.
