Ben Crossley outpaced the field by three points when he won round 16 of the Bennett Cup with 40 Stableford points, but his progress wasn’t smooth. Birdieing the ninth he turned for home, dropping strokes on the tenth and thirteenth. He had a no-score on the next, birdied the fifteenth and finished with two pars and a dropped stroke. His colleagues didn’t do any better; Nicholls had two no-scores, Dunsford had a no-score on the thirteenth, and Colwill had none but with a birdie on the tenth he was round in 79 gross.
Miss C Nicholls & E Way won the weekend’s Better-ball Stableford with 44 points, one ahead of Mrs A Jacobs & E Wootten on 43 points.
