Exeter University student James Blyth, scratch, put together two rounds of 70 and 71, totalling 141 net, to win the 36-hole Westlake Trophy at Trevose. Matt Richards, plus 1 handicap, had rounds of 70 and 72, totalling 142 net, finished second from Aaron Stephens, one handicap, with rounds of 69 and 73, also 142 net, on count-back. Cornwall county junior George Leigh finished fourth with rounds of 72 and 71 totalling 143 net.

Matt Richards won the scratch prize with rounds of 69 and 71, totalling 140 gross on count-back from Matt Kippen with rounds of 68 and 72 also totalling 140 gross. James Blyth finished third with rounds of 70 and 71, totalling 141, and Rob MacGregor, plus 3, with rounds of 68 and 75, totalling 143, finished fourth.

In the afternoon Nick Gammon holed-in-one on the third hole with a 5 iron.

Blyth dropped a stroke on the first hole in the morning, but an eagle three on the fourth saw him go out in level par, and come back with two birdies in 34 gross for 70. Richards was out with three birdies in 33, and come back with one birdie and one dropped stroke in 36 for 70. Stephens dropped a stroke on the first, but with three birdies he was also out in three under par 33, but came back in 37, with two dropped strokes and one birdie, for 69. Leigh also dropped a stroke on the first, and settled with two birdies to be out in 35; turning for home, he dropped a stroke on the twelfth, birdied the thirteenth, but dropped strokes on the last two holes to be back in 38 for 72.

In the afternoon; Leigh birdied the first, but dropped a stroke on the ninth to be out in 36. He birdied the tenth and dropped a stroke on the twelfth for 71. Stephens was out in 35, with three birdies and two dropped strokes, but back in 39 with one birdie and four dropped strokes for 73. Richards was out in 38 with three dropped strokes and a birdie and back in 33 for 72, with three birdies. Blyth, however, was solid. He was out in 35 and back in 36 for a one under par total of 71 to take the Westlake Trophy with 141 net.
